The Portland area’s rich diversity of historic architecture defines the character of our communities. The Architectural Heritage Center's 2017 gala theme, "Timber & Stone," celebrates not only the architects who shaped the city through their designs, but also the craftspeople, woodworkers, engineers, masons, and artists whose work both built and defined Portland. Our city struggles every day to balance rapid growth with affordable, sustainable buildings and the thoughtful preservation of our history. The Architectural Heritage Center’s core mission is to educate and advocate for that balance. This mission has never been more urgent.
